The reason that there is less and less players is because of the release of Factions and Alliance battles. Honestly, how many people are still around in Prophecies? Not many.

Another possible reason is that the HoHers have all quit the game. There is just so much PvP you can play before finding it stale, same with most any game.

Don't forget with better technology they can put more people in a single district as they used to be able to. So it doesn't work very well to compare the amount of districts right now to what it was 12 months ago.

im going to have to agree with cleric here. most the builds i usually played were pretty much fotm builds and they get dull very fast, especially spikes which were basically follow the caller, press "T" then, press 1,2,3, etc. then occasionally use secondaries. it was fun though to celebrate when the guild team holds halls. the most fun i ever had in HoH was when the guild members came up with a totally originally build that was literally called "1 minute win or lose build." if we didnt win in the first couple minutes we were done for. the build was such a success we actually had some of the team members leave the guild so people wouldnt steal the build on observer (we were top 100 at the time). and we actually took halls with the build . those were the days. Tbh i think im finished with HoH. i'm pretty sure i'll go there occaasionaly with friends but im definetly not going to pull all nighters playing HoH like i used to when trying to get my r3. i'll probably shoot for r4 (100 more fame to go), but im not really shooting for the wolf. i guess what really keeps me away from HoH are all the r6/r9 iways i always see. i wanna see a r6 iway warrior play a balanced warrior. im going to be honest and say i got around 20 fame because of iway and after playing iway and playing different builds iway seems pretty mindless.

I enjoyed HoH alot more when guild wars just came out.

Really glad I got my rank 3 before any kind of FotM got in. Once it did, I quit HoH practically rest of my GW time... although I do pop in once in like... 6 months? to play a little, and be remind of why I hate HoH.

NR -> Smite -> IWAY -> @#$#^ -> $#^#%^ -> @#%!#% -> #$^#%& -> 34624 -> 43636 -> 346356

You get the idea... FotM destroyed HoH in my opinion.

Agreed. Infact I'd much rather rather idle in Marhans Grotto than play HA right now.

Tombs did indeed die.

In my view the main reason for this is the lack of worthwhile rewards for playing in Tombs. Alliance Battles can net you gold, Tombs can't. Alliance Battles are very popular and Tombs are not. Not a coincidence, I say.

Plus it often takes 3+ hours to assemble 8 good players onto a team in Tombs, after which they may lose 3 rounds in and disband. That's one of the main reasons why people do FOTM - because it beats waiting for 3 hours for 8 good players to get a real build going, which even when they do is no guarantee of success anyhow.

All this in my view means Tombs should have the best rewards in the game, as opposed to no decent rewards as it currently stands (other than up to the tiger emote, which almost everyone who wanted one already got it months ago).

Ok lets see from the point of view of a proud 1 fame owner

1.- you cannot get in a group, or have lost 2-3 hours to get in one

2.- Unless you play certain builds you loose and have to begin all the loop again.

3.- The very good PvP-ers don't play it or just for a short while and get to their "business" (GvG)

4.- The middle-bad players cannot get in groups.

5.- If your'e good enough and win you get a sigil. Quite impossible btw.

6.- Since Alliance battles gives more rewards, it's more direct and fun (questionable) they are taking off all the players that were fed up of that system

Is that correct?

People go where the money is.

AB earns Faction, which can be used to help your guild (and get an title, the new anyman emote) or to redeem for ambers and jades for 15k "swleet" armors skins if you don't just trade out and sell for plat. Thats right; PvP can make you money

It's easier to get into these groups since most of them are guild (since you need to be in one to get in there in the first place) or random PuG (a few FotM team builds, but most of them are just random groups) and not once have I seen rank elitism. The later is a big plus for part-time PvPers.

EDIT: Why be subtle.

In fact, the only place where rank outweighs titles is HA. Go back in there, flash two or three or "Kind of a Big Thing" titles and see how many groups accept you. Now flash that in any mission or town and see the response.

A large part of why HoH may be sinking like a lead boat (I wouldn't know, I don't go there any more) is because not only is new blood looked down on, it is scoffed at by the HA community at large. A few helpful members might still be kicking around, but I doubt it.

When I left, if people didn't have the rank they "needed" to play, no groups would let them. If the same holds true now, with new sources of PvP available to the massess, then there is no wonder players have left HA and spamming for groups, whisper/begging to be let in, to go elsewhere where they can play when they want.

To be blunt: we don't need you, and now we know it.

HoH died quite some time ago.

GvG (and PvP in general) is now dying because of imbalanced builds. It used to be that you beat your opponents by outsmarting them, adapting to their build mid-battle, learning and exploiting their weaknesses midbattle. Now, more than ever, the battle has already ended before the gates even open. It's all about who is running the right (more imbalanced, in most cases) build.

Remember when there was none of this "interupt soul barbs or die" crap?

Also alot of ppl went to RA and TA for gladiator title..which i see is more difficult than farming fame with FoTM in HA.

I personally think people are more intrested in GvG since they 'should' rank their guild higher. That way they can be entered into the next championship.

tombs cant net gold ?

Tombs has netted me a pretty good sum of money i'd say (crystallines, sigils, perfect weapons etc..)

I think tombs died pretty much of IWAY...

Some people spent all their guild wars career trying to get r6/9 then some iway come in and get r9 in a month.

All other fotm builds have been nerfed and yet IWAY gets super powered (ooa/rituals)

idk bunch of BS if you ask me

GvG just is too superior to HA.
HA can be fun on occasion, as is trying new builds. HA can be an alternate to smurfing or unrated battling to test a build, sure it doesn't give a good example, but its fun while it lasts

I got ranked months and months ago... I was always near the "normal" rank to get in groups. I had fun, played creative builds. IWAY existed, but wasn't as popular as it soon became.

I haven't played HA seriously in eight months. Why? IWAY, really. No, it was not overpowered. Almost nobody who ran it understood how to play it or why/how it worked. It was a powerful build, yes, but easily countered. I stopped because literally 80%+ of opposing teams were IWAY. We beat them, yes. But is it really fun to face the same thing that often? It wasn't for me.

I decided to take a break and GvG. I fell in love with it - there was no real FotM build. I GvGed every day, getting better and better and loving the strategical quality that Tombs never really provided as well. But alas, all good things must end, and GvG got FotM as well.

Gale warrior split, followed by dual e-denial, GvG began to lose its excitement. Yet again, strategies could be employed to defeat these builds, but it just isn't fun. I decided to check back in HA... To find IWAY still prominent and accompanied by another FotM holding build, Blood Spike. I took a break to try out PvE, something I had not touched for months.

PvE just provides a special quality for me that PvP simply can not give - a complete lack of cookie cutter builds and an open space for creativity. I know how many people complain about how you need a cookie cutter build to farm, but really, you don't. Cookie cutter builds are just all you see because people are too damn lazy to make their own build. I would say the same about PvP, but really, everything that works has been done... And... If you don't have 8 players willing to run your build, it's gg for you.

I grew to like GvG again, as the FotM builds faded and it was once again free. But with the release of Factions, there are too many FotM builds. SB spike? Triple smite? Dual smite? (I would say touch rangers, but Diversion or snares just own them too easily. The other builds are also easy to counter with heavy enchant/hex counters, but whatever... Touch rangers aren't ruining the fun of the game as these team builds are.) Alliance battles just aren't fun for me... While they aren't filled with cookie cutters, they are filled with... Just awful players. I see at least 3 premade builds per team per AB. The rest of the players just have no strategical ability, unfortunately. You generally make a guild team of four, but why? The other two teams are almost always terrible.

Now? I'm waiting for these FotM GvG builds to die out. I think I'm done with HA. For now, it's either PvE or no more GW for me.
